LegacyMaker Training Vault/Transcription/[Transcription] How To Transcribe An Audio Recording

Once you’ve captured your ideas, they do you no good sitting in a digital vault never to be seen again! LegacyMaker’s instant transcription feature makes it quick and easy to convert your raw audio content into an editable text format, and this step-by-step tutorial will show you exactly how.

Objectives:

  • Access your recordings via the Uploads folder
  • Search for a specific file name
  • Use filters to search by file type
  • Transcribe an audio file
  • Access and edit your transcription

Prior to getting started, you will need to have the following:

  • An active LegacyMaker account
  • An internet connection
  • An un-transcribed audio recording

Step by Step Walkthrough:

STEP #1:

To transcribe a file, navigate to the Uploads folder by clicking the cloud icon in the upper toolbar.

STEP #2:

Here you’ll find a list of all uploaded items, including audio, images, and documents. Click the magnifying glass to search for a specific file name, or use the filters to browse by file type.

STEP #3:

The red dot on the right side of your file indicates that it has not yet been transcribed. To do so, select the file then click the red “Not Transcribed” link.

STEP #4:

Select “Yes” to confirm your transcription, or click “Cancel”.

STEP #5:

You’ll be notified once your transcription is complete, and the red dot on your file will disappear.

STEP #6:

To access your transcription, select your file then click the white “Read/Edit” link (this was formerly a red “Not Transcribed” link).

STEP #7:

Colored text is a signal to double check for accuracy as the audio may have been unclear in these areas.

STEP #8:

To remove the coloration, make any necessary edits then highlight the colored text and select the white check mark to confirm your updates.

STEP #9:

Once you’re finished editing, select “Done” in the upper right corner.
